About the event

The Dam Dinner is a fundraising event to support the programs and continuation of the Suwanee Arts Center. With its tongue-in-cheek name, The Dam Dinner pokes fun at the fact that the event will be held on the Dam at Sims Lake Park.

What to Expect:

The evening begins with a glass of bubbly and a chance to mingle with the beautiful backdrop of Sims Lake and serenaded by the dynamic violinist, Daniel Butman. Kelly Robertson of Calvary Glass will be demonstrating techniques of glass blowing and creating new works of art. Selections from his bounty of whimsical glass blown pumpkins will be auctioned off throughout the evening. Gordon Benson, local Suwanee artist and SAC member, will be on-site painting and selling works from his historic sites collection of the North Gwinnett area.

As the sun starts to fade, guests may want to grab a glass of the evening’s signature cocktail - The Dam Cocktail or choose from a selection of wines and beers before being seated at elegantly set dining tables, situated at the edge of Sims Lake and lit in a European Piazza style. Seating is limited and early registration is encouraged.

For dinner, guests will be treated to a first taste, sneak preview of Suwanee’s soon-to-be-opened and newest addition to the culinary scene, Raik Mediterranean. With a focus on fresh, colorful and vibrant flavors, the appetizers, main entrees and luscious desserts promise to take your taste buds on a journey through the Middle East, in an exclusive culinary adventure like no other.

Headlining entertainment for the evening will be Grammy nominated Jazz Composer and Artist, Carol Albert, and her band. Since establishing herself as a smooth jazz mainstay, one of Carol’s unique trademarks has been writing and recording songs that both chronicle and express her own emotions and thoughtfully reflect upon the world around her. Carol’s recent Hit Album “Magic Mirror” has 3 Top 5 Billboard Hits to date. Billboard #1 “Paradigm Shift,” “Magic Mirror,” and “Fire & Water” gained national recognition in the Contemporary Jazz world since the release of the Album. Other Top 5 singles “Perfect Sunday” and “Stronger Now” – from her 2020 full length album Stronger Now - have crossed over to massive numbers in a metric usually touted by mainstream pop stars.

This magical dining and artistic experience is a limited seat fundraising event supporting the programs and administration of the Suwanee Arts Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides opportunities for artists to thrive, fosters art appreciation through education and exhibitions, and serves as a catalyst for dynamic and vibrant community interaction with the arts.
